Fuel Theft Prevention

Fuel dispenser security covers

Protection for the part of the pump that counts

Every case in our news coverage turns on the same thing: the dispenser was made to report less fuel than it delivered. This product is built to address that, on the Encore 700 units it is designed for.

A fuel nozzle in a vehicle's filler neck at a station forecourt.
Every gallon that leaves the site is counted by the dispenser.

What we publish, and what we do not

We do not explain how it works

What this page tells you

  • Which dispenser models and configurations it is built for
  • Which attack surface it addresses, and which ones it does not
  • That a JF technician fits it in about 15 minutes per position
  • That a technician can remove and refit it for service
  • That there is no software, subscription or licence to carry
  • How to get a price for your sites

What it deliberately does not

We do not describe how the product works, how it is installed, or how it defeats an attempt. No materials, gauge, dimensions or fastening method. No part numbers. No downloadable spec sheet, and we will not send one.

A public account of how a security product is built and fitted is a briefing document for the person trying to get past it — it tells him what to bring. The operators who need that detail are the ones with a site and a purchase order, and they get it from their JF Petroleum Group branch on a call.

It is the same principle as the rest of this site: we report that fuel theft happens and what it costs, never how it is done. Our editorial standards.

Fitment

Which cover fits which dispenser

Product availability by Gilbarco Encore 700 dispenser configuration
Dispenser model Flow Configuration Fits
Gilbarco® Encore 700 S Standard flow Single-sided Yes
Gilbarco® Encore 700 S Standard flow Dual-sided / two-position Yes
Gilbarco® Encore 700 S High flow Single- or dual-sided Yes

Running something not on this list — an Encore 500, an Encore 300, or a mixed fleet? Tell us what you have on the quote form. Your JF technician verifies the configuration on site before anything ships, so you are not ordering off a site record that may be out of date.

What it addresses

  • Tampering with the dispenser's metering components
  • The quick, quiet visit — the kind of stop a route-runner is looking for
  • Opportunistic attempts during unattended or overnight hours
  • Repeat visits to a site that has already been found workable

What it does not cover

  • Underground storage tank access — that is a separate surface with a separate fix
  • Card readers and skimming — different crime, different countermeasure
  • Drive-offs and pump-and-run
  • Anyone with authorised access to the dispenser and enough time

We would rather tell you this up front than have you discover it after an incident. See the full hardening checklist for all three attack surfaces.

Questions operators ask

What exactly does it protect?

The metering components inside the dispenser — the ones that determine what your pump reports as dispensed. That is the attack surface behind the fuel theft cases we document. We do not publish how the protection works.

Can a technician still service the dispenser?

Yes. A JF technician can remove and refit it as part of normal service work. It is a security measure, not a permanent seal.

Can I buy direct?

No — and that is deliberate. These go in through JF Petroleum Group, whose technicians already service these dispensers nationwide. You get correct fitment, a proper install, and one throat to choke if something is wrong.

Why don't you explain how it works?

Deliberately. A public description of what a security product is made of, where it sits and how it is fitted tells someone exactly what they are up against and what to bring. It helps a thief far more than it helps you evaluate it. Your JF branch answers engineering questions directly, on a call, with a customer who has a site.

What about Encore 500, Encore 300, or other manufacturers?

Our current covers are built for the Encore 700 family. Tell us what you actually run on the quote form and your JF branch will tell you honestly whether we have something that fits.
